Two paws up from past clients!

“Sara was able to cover a lot with my dog in the 2 week board & train. As a dog with little training prior to the program, I was so impressed with the skills he knew when I picked him up. Thanks to Sara, everything from walks to car rides to going to public places is much easier and enjoyable for both my dog and I. I’m so glad I connected with Sara and would recommend her to anyone looking to work on their dog’s training.”

“Our 9 month old puppy, Rae, was a brute and wreaking havoc all over the house. We couldn't walk her, she was a bully, and while she was cute... it wasn't a happy family. Sara took her for a gloriously quiet week, and when she came back it felt like we had a new dog. While it was a transition for her to come back, Sara gave us the tools to keep her skills and form a new bond. Life with her is SO MUCH BETTER. She's still quirky, but she is actually enjoyable. And she listens. Worth every penny.”

“We sent Lily, our 70+ lb Great Pyrenees and lab mix, for a board and train program with Sara to work on her pulling and reactivity to other dogs during walks, which was making it challenging to walk her, particularly in snow and ice in our downtown Milwaukee neighborhood. We could not be more pleased with the progress we and Lily have made. She is now an easy-going walker, and is much better about walking right past potential distractions.

Furthermore, Sara established an effective means of communicating with Lily that has allowed us to make progress in other areas, such as with recall. Lily is now so accustomed to checking in with us that we have been able to expand the number of places we feel comfortable taking her off leash, including places like the lakefront/trails where we never would have dreamed we could trust her.

She is still our goofy pup who loves making snow angels, but she now has a foundation and means of communicating with us that has greatly improved hers and our quality of life.

Thank you SO much. We could not be happier!”

“Hi Sara,

I hope this finds you well.

I wanted to reach out to say thanks again, I know it hasn't even been a week yet but the difference in Laila's behavior and tendencies is absolutely incredible. She's so much more calm and cooperative than I hoped she would be and it has made a big difference in my day to day life as well. She hasn't stayed at my parent's yet, but I had her over there for dinner the other evening and she slept in place for our entire meal, not barking once when previously she would bark for food and attention. THANK YOU!”

“Sara absolutely knows what she is doing when it comes to training for the owners wants and needs. Although my dog was behaved, I wanted to fine tune some things and within a few sessions and some teaching me, he is very easy to guide and listens so much more effectively to me. Well worth the investment, and Sara has been truly wonderful through the whole process. I will bring my next dog to her too, and highly recommend!!”

“ We just finished our first post-board & train walk in our super busy neighborhood! Not going to lie - I was tearing up! The boys encountered two puppies, multiple strollers, arguing adults, joggers, barking dogs and someone yelling to them from across the street & they rocked it! Both dogs remained at my side with a loose leash, stopped whenever I did and had zero reaction to the chaos! Thanks Sara!”

“Having full times jobs and a toddler proved to be hard to find time to train out 5-month old puppy, Maya. We sent her to Wisco Dog's 1-week board and train program and got her back yesterday. She knows “place” and will stay there until excused to play. She waits at every threshold before being invited in. She heels like a pro on walks, and is just overall a complete rock star. We didn’t have any behavioral issues, just a need to harness her energy more effectively and an opportunity to learn impulse control… normal puppy stuff! However, Sara far exceeded our expectations. Her dedication shines through every interaction she has, which is evident in her Instagram videos where he shares the progress of every dog in her program. She is incredibly kind and patient, and I’m confident you will be just as satisfied. I couldn’t recommend her more!”

“We adopted our dog in December and while she was overall a great dog she had a few areas where she needed some improvement. She was responsive to commands when you had her attention but it was often hard to get her focus when distracted. She did not like to return to you when called if there was something that she was more interested in. Relaxing was something she only liked to do on her terms. We did a one week board and train with Sara and our dog came back the same awesome goofball she was before but with a completely different mindset.

… She’s still our lovable puppy but we get to spend so much more of our time enjoying activities with her than ever before because we are so much more confident in her. It feels like she’s integrated into our life and what we want to do rather than wondering if she was exercised or relaxed enough to try to sneak in a cup of coffee or a beer on a patio.
I can’t recommend Sara more highly.”

Cooper.jpeg

“When we found Sara with Wisco Dog Training, we were desperate for help with Cooper. He needed a major attitude adjustment and would do anything to get what he wanted, including bite members of our household which included our kids. He also would howl and bay ALL THE TIME. Forget about walks, he would literally drag us down the street. We were on the brink of having to make a hard decision to re-home him or worse.

Sara recommended her 2 week train and board program to get a jump start on Cooper and was confident she could help us.

Fast forward two weeks, and Cooper has transformed into a very well behaved pup who is eager to please and is still his goofy self. I am also happy to report he has not howled or bayed once since coming home a couple days ago. We know it’s early, but the significant improvements we have seen speak for itself about Sara’s abilities.

Sara has a special talent and is able to connect with these dogs on an entirely different level. She not only trains the pups in her home but also helps them apply their new skills in real life situations. I highly recommend Sara to anyone looking for a trainer.”

“Ruby is doing so well!!!

We are so impressed with the progress you made with training her. You far exceeded our expectations for our old gal. We already took her on multiple small walks, because we love how well she is listening!..Even in our more noisy neighborhood. I even have her in "place" with the Roomba on.. which scared her at first, but now she's good and CALM! We can't thank you enough. We already loved and enjoyed Ruby, but now we enjoy her even MORE and we can't wait to take her places as she progresses. We can't wait to keep challenging her and enjoying her more and more every day. Thank you SO much, Sara!”

“David’s off to Seattle for the week. He said he’s going to miss Tarly this week. For the first time!!! Thanks for making Tarly a good family pet. Now David enjoys him so much. Taking him to the park to run and laying with Tarly and petting him. What a change. You are a miracle worker! He’s such a great dog. Thank you for all your hard work training him, it’s paid off! David even has photos of him in his presentations now. The bond is good!! We continue to spread the word to everyone what a great experience we had.”

“Hi Sara!

Enzo and I just finished our first flight together (12/18/2019) and he BLEW MY MIND with how well he did. Thank you so much for laying a great foundation back in July and for answering my questions along the way!

“We took our 8 month old puppy to Sara. He was big, playful, and getting too big to control. After 1 week, he can walk at a heel, he sits in place, he comes when we call him!!!!!

We are thrilled with the foundation he got from his time with Wisco Dog Training. Will definitely use them again!”

“We are very grateful we found Sara.

Our dog, Hazel used to jump on us, and was very food reactive. She was crazy, dog and people reactive on leash. She also jumped and barked at strangers that walked into our house. After spending time with Sara she is a calm dog, who is amazing to walk on leash, and she can around strangers. We have gotten many compliments from strangers about how our dog is well behaved. We are so happy with our dog now and it is clear to see how much effort Sara puts into her work and how great she is at communicating with dogs! We are also happy with all of the tools and techniques Sara has introduced to us and it has made a more enjoyable relationship with our dog and built a very strong bond!

We would recommended Sara with Wisco Dog Training to anyone!”

“Sara of Wisco Dog Training is absolutely amazing!

I sent my very rambunctious 10 month old heeler puppy for a two week board & train a while back. I was feeling helpless when I booked the appointment. While I had a heeler pup once before, she was proving to be much more of a challenge for me. I explained to Sara the laundry list of issues we were having, all of which are very typical of a working breed living in the city. My dog, Uchi, was so excited to learn and get to work. Many people told me the only way she would be happy is if she had a job on a farm, however, not all heelers can have a farm… so we were doing our best for her. Walking 6-7 miles a day and she still had endless energy. Sara explained that not all “jobs” had to be exercise and that mental stimulation was just as exhausting as physical exercise. Simply remaining in a down position, when she wants to be the wild child that she is is SO much work for her. In the past couple of weeks since she has been home, we have needed to remind her that school is not out just because she is home, which we need to continue to work at being good dog parents, the foundations that WDT taught her are priceless. We have found multiple ways to tire her out both physically and mentally without exhausting ourselves. She even stayed in a down position during our Thanksgiving with 14 people in our little house. I am so thankful for Sara and all the tools she has provided me and my family. We are certain to have a well behaved pup for years to come. I brag to anyone who will listen about how well she walks, how she doesn’t jump up, nip, eat the cat food, pull the TP off the roll, rip holes in my clothes, and all of her other bad behaviors she used to have. I cannot thank WDT enough. You have changed our lives!!”

“We were fostering a dog who had severe separation anxiety. He destroyed the bottom of his crate when we were gone, he flipped the crate over when he was inside it, collapsed the sides in on himself, destroyed any blanket that was on top of the crate (including a weighted blanket!), barked, whined, and peed himself. We couldn't even leave for a 20 minute grocery run without him peeing himself. He also got a tail injury from thwacking it against the crate in anxiety. We couldn't leave him out in the house either because he'd scratch at the door. We were working on training him to be calm, teaching him down-stay and place, working on using a bark collar, but it was such slow progress. After months, we could only really leave his sight for about a minute before he started freaking out. We took him to Sara's 2 week board and train program and she absolutely transformed him! Gone were the days of peeing in the crate, or jumping up and down and barking! The only remnant of separation anxiety was he was still whining, but you could tell he didn't even know he was doing it. He was just sad his humans were gone. He was able to stay in a down, calmly, in the crate (or just in the house) and eventually fall asleep. Sara gave us some really amazing tools and resources to continue his training after the board and train program, and to pass along to his future adopter (he got adopted within days of returning from the program!). Not only did she basically cure his separation anxiety, she also taught him a strong "place" command, taught him to stay down in the car, and taught him really great leash and recall skills. Before we brought him to her, I could barely even hold him on a walk because he'd pull so hard. She also kept us updated through Instagram throughout the 2 weeks, so we could see the progress. We were so impressed by Sara and will definitely use her again!”

“Wisco Dog Training has changed all of our lives! We have a 9 month old baby and a 7 month old German Shepherd, we needed help to teach Sinatra to focus and not jump. We were pleasantly surprised when we went to pick up Sinatra and he was CALM! He didn’t even try to jump or run at us when he saw us. We have been using all the tools that Sara has given us to keep the training going at home and it has made our lives so much easier and less stressful. Highly recommend Wisco Dog Training!!!”

“Where do I even begin, our experience with Sara was AMAZING. To be honest, my wife and I were slightly hesitant to use balanced training with our dog, Murphy, because we only ever had experience with group training puppy classes. The group training classes only taught Murphy to do things for treats and not because he actually wanted to choose that behavior. We had an extremely challenging time teaching Murphy to be calm and not jump when he met new people. We finally decided that we needed more dog training and we came across Sara's website and were extremely impressed with what we saw. When we told Sara that we were a little hesitant with balanced training, she reached out to previous clients so they could let us know their experience with her, how amazing is that? I am so happy we made this decision, I cannot believe I was even hesitant. Sara spends time with you on go home day so that you understand exactly how to help your dog succeed. She is always available to answer our questions and she makes sure to show your dogs progress throughout their stay on her social media, something we looked forward to every day. Murphy is now choosing to listen to us without even giving him treats. The first day we brought Murphy home we went to Home Depot and he stayed in a heel with his attention on us the entire time, something we never could have dreamed of doing before this training. We are so excited to keep working with Murphy and watching him grow into a confident pup that chooses good behaviors.”

Wren the Australian Shepherd

I've known Sara, the lead trainer of Wisco Dog, for more than 3 years and I can safely say that she's the most dog obsessed person I know - in the best way! Through training her own dogs, fostering, working in the dog industry, and attending every seminar and training that she can, Sara has seen it all. No matter what behavior or temperament she might encounter, she always remains calm, focused, and completely dedicated to the well-being of the pup. She also recognizes that not everyone has as much experience as her, and she's able to explain her techniques to others so that they can replicate them on their own. Wisco Dog may be one of the newer options for dog training in the Madison, WI area, but dog training is definitely not new to Sara! Your pup will be in the best hands with her.

Sara, of Wisco Dog Training, is the first person I refer to for dog behavioral issues. She has been so helpful as a resource for fearful dog behavior, leash aggression, and many other things that have come up for my foster dogs and resident dogs. She’s also taught me a lot about the usefulness of basic commands, like “place.” She never makes me feel dumb for any of my questions or concerns, she only empowers me to be a better leader. She is very kind and has a big heart. She is also very funny! I am inspired by Sara’s ability to help so many rescue dogs with behavioral issues. Don’t hesitate to contact Sara for dog training. She is amazing!
